We have learned that Canadian cannabis activist Dana Larsen was arrested last night in Calgary Canada. Dana was holding an OverGrow Canada rally at a Calgary hotel when he was arrested and hauled off to jail. Calgary police, of course, were uncooperative in releasing the name of whom they arrested but stated the following in a tweet.
“Drug trafficking charges to be laid following arrest of man caught distributing marijuana seeds.”
Thanks to supporters at the rally, videos of the arrest were posted to Facebook allowing for the identity of the man to be confirmed. Dana is no stranger to making the news in regards to cannabis. Dana sent a gram of premium BC bud to every liberal Prime Minister in Canada just a few short months ago. Operation Overgrow Canada was the most recent project headed by Dana to bring awareness to the need for reforming cannabis laws in the country.
Operation OverGrow Canada is a campaign started by Dana in which he plans to distribute 1,000,000 cannabis seeds to medical marijuana patients in the country at no charge. You can learn more about OverGrow Canada here and view one of the videos of the arrest on Facebook here. As you can see this will not stop Dana as he encourages everyone in a short speech before being put into the police car. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details become available.

As you said before authorities placed you in their vehicle,
“We’re going to make change together!“
We are excited to announce that we have learned that Dana Larson is again a free man. After spending a night in jail, Dana appeared in court this morning and was released on $1,000 Bond. Despite spending the night in jail, Dana has no plans on stopping his efforts to OverGrow Canada. In fact based on the recent demand for seeds that has arise because of the recent events that have occurred based on his arrest he has now doubled his goal.
Dana is now on a mission to distribute over 2 million cannabis seeds to those individuals throughout Canada that would like to grow cannabis. The rallies for OverGrow Canada will continue with a rally this evening. Since Dana was arrested for distributing cannabis seeds at a rally on his OverGrow Canada Cross Country Tour he has decided to no longer distribute the seeds at these rallies but instead will only distribute seeds VIA mail order through the OverGrow Canada website.
Dana was officially charged with “one count of trafficking marijuana, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking” Dana is scheduled to appear in court on these charges on May 18th.
Here at Marijuana Writers, we will continue to support the efforts of Dana Larson and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on how the rest of his cross-country tour unfolds.
